2008 Season: Issued just 26 walks in 119.0 IP and allowed one walk or fewer in 18 of his 23 starts. Gave up a run on four hits with six strikeouts in 6.0 innings of work in a no decision vs. Reading on 4/4. Left the game vs. Akron on 4/21 after being struck in the ribcage by a line drive. Placed on the DL with bruised ribs on 4/23. Activated from the DL on 5/19 and made his first and only appearance out of the bullpen that night @ Akron (3.0 IP, 3R, 3ER, 5H, 0W, 2K). 2007 Season: Spent all but one start of the season in High-A Lynchburg. Five of his eight wins came against Frederick. Had a tremendous month of April, going 3-0 with a 1.77 ERA (20.1 IP, 7R, 4ER, 16H, 6W, 15K). Earned a complete game victory vs. Frederick in game one of a doubleheader on 5/28 (7.0 IP 3R, 3ER, 9H, 2W, 2K). Promoted to Double-A Altoona on 7/2 and made a spot start that night, picking up a loss vs. Bowie (3.2IP, 6R, 5ER, 4H, 5W, 2K). Returned to Lynchburg on 7/4. Struck out a season high seven batters and picked up his last win of the season @ Frederick on 7/12 (7.0 IP, 3R, 3ER, 6H, 0W, 7K). Placed on the Temporary Inactive List in mid-July due to a death in his family. Returned to action on 8/1 and went 0-3 with a 6.68 ERA in seven season ending starts
2006 Season: Tied the Carolina League lead in losses (11). Finished second in the league in hits allowed (157). Fourth in the league in earned runs allowed (75). Fourth in the league in innings pitched (142.2 IP). Gave up a run over 5.0 innings of work to pick up his first win of the year @ Kinston on 4/26. Pitched 6.0 shutout innings in win @ Wilmington on 5/8 (6.0 IP, 0R, 2H, 1W, 3K). Pitched a team-high 8.0 innings in a complete game loss @ Winston-Salem on 5/21 (8.0 IP, 4R, 4ER, 8H, 0W, 2K). Named Carolina League Pitcher of the Week for the week of July 10-16 after tossing 7.0 shutout innings in a no decision @ Potomac on 7/13 (7.0 IP, 0R, 2H, 1W, 5K). 2005 Season: Ranked second among Pirates minor league pitchers with 118 strikeouts in 156.1 innings of work. Second in the South Atlantic League in games started (27). Fourth in the league in hits allowed (176). Fifth in the league in home runs allowed (17). Led Hickory pitching staff in games started, innings pitched and strikeouts. Struck out seven or more batters seven times including a season high 10 punch outs over 7.0 scoreless innings in a win vs. Charleston on 5/21. Tossed his first complete game as a pro in a win vs. Delmarva on 8/6 (9.0 IP, 2R, 1ER, 6H, 2W, 7K)
2004 Season: Signed with the Pirates on 6/16 after being drafted in the 10th round of the June draft. Tied for the NY-Penn League lead in homers allowed (9). Fourth in the league in wins (6), innings pitched (83.0 IP) and lowest walks per 9.0 innings pitched (1.52). Made his professional debut on 6/20 vs. Brooklyn (L, 5.0 IP, 2R, 2ER, 5H ,2W, 1K). Won five straight decisions over six starts from 7/16-8/18 (39.0 IP, 12R, 12ER, 28H, 5W, 30K, 2.77 ERA). Worked a season high 8.0 innings in a win @ Aberdeen on 7/22 (8.0 IP, 0R, 3H, 0W, 3K).
