Biography: Curve Cuts: Fourth professional season. Was a teammate of Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria at Long Beach St. University. His pitching coach at Long Beach was current Pirates Minor League Pitching Coordinator Troy Buckley. Posted a 7-0 record with a 1.62 ERA in the prestigious Cape Cod League in 2005
2008 Season: Lost his first three starts at Lynchburg despite allowing just seven runs in 15 2/3 innings (4.02 ERA). Earned a win on April 21 @ Myrtle Beach (5.0IP 3R 1R 6H 2W 2K). Lost seven of his first eight decisions with Lynchburg. Struck out eight batters over seven innings in a win on 5/28 @ Potomac (7.0IP 2R 2ER 3H 1W 8K). Promoted to Altoona for a spot-start on 7/10 @ Trenton where he suffered the loss (5.0IP 5R 4H 4W 1K). Returned to Lynchburg on 7/11. Went 1-2 with a 5.31 ERA in his last four starts with Lynchburg. Promoted to Altoona for good on 8/5. Earned his first Double-A win on 8/5 vs. Akron (6.0IP 1R 1ER 6H 3W 6K). Picked up his second win @ New Hampshire on 8/16 (6.0IP 2R 1ER 6H 3W 4K)
2007 Season: Spent the entire season with Low-A Hickory. Was the opening day starter and winner on 4/5 @ Hagerstown, tossing 5.0 shutout innings. Yielded just one earned run in 19.0 innings (0.47 ERA) during a three-start winning streak from 6/5-15. Went 6-4 with a 3.20 ERA in 13 starts prior to the South Atlantic League All-Star game. Worked a season-high 8.0 innings with a season-high eight strikeouts in a no-decision vs. Greensboro on 7/7. Fanned eight batters over seven innings in a loss @ Columbus on 8/15. Started the third and deciding game of the SAL divisional playoff series vs. West Virginia on 9/8, allowing five runs over 2.0 innings of work in Hickory’s 9-4 setback
2006 Season: Made his professional debut as the opening day starter for Short-A Williamsport on 6/20 @ State College (ND, 4.0 IP 1R 1ER 1H 1W 1K). Pitched 11.0 shutout innings, allowing just three hits, over two starts from 6/30-7/5. Allowed one hit over 6.0 shutout innings in his first career win @ Batavia on 7/5. Promoted to Low-A Hickory on 7/15. Won his first start for Hickory on 7/15 vs. Delmarva (5.0 IP 3R 2ER 3H 5W 2K). Won his final two starts of the season with Hickory
