Biography:
Curve Cuts: Originally signed by Cleveland as a non-drafted free agent. Spent two years in the NY Mets organization. Hadn’t hit at least 10 homers in a season prior to the 2006 campaign. Never drove in more than 50 runs in a season before 2007
2008 Season: Spent the entire season with Double-A Altoona. Selected as the Curve’s MVP for the 2008 season. Tied Brad Corley for the team lead with 33 multi-hit games. Recorded two or more RBI in 20 games to lead the club. Enjoyed a.300 average in 59 games played at Blair County Ballpark. Went 7-for-12 (.583) during the Curve’s season-opening series vs. Reading from 4/3-6. Reached base safely in the first 12 games from 4/3-17 hitting.362 during that stretch. Connected for Altoona’s only pinch-hit home run of the season in the ninth inning of the Curve’s 6-5 loss@ New Britain on 6/11. Left game @ Erie on 7/11 with an injured lower back and was placed on the DL 7/18. Missed 17 games before being activated from the DL on 8/2. Reached base safely in a franchise record 10 straight plate appearances from 8/28 (game two)thru 8/30. Raised his batting average from.268 to.288 over the final five games from 8/29-9/1, going 13-for-20 (.650) during that stretch
2007 Season: Began the year at Low-A Hickory. Named the Crawdads MVP after hitting.315 with 27 homers and 99 RBI in 119 games with the club. Led the SAL with 99 RBI, second in the league in homers (27), slugging percentage (.566) and total bases (262), third in runs scored (97) and HR/AB (1/17.15) and sixth in batting average (.315). Was a SAL mid-season All-Star selection. Slugged three home runs in four at-bats on 4/27 @ Greensboro. Promoted to High-A Lynchburg for a nine game stint from 6/8-17 and hit.290 (9-for-31). Sent back to Hickory on 6/18. Posted season highs with four hits and three stolen bases @ Delmarva on 7/18. Posted a pair of two-homer games within a ten game span on 8/12 vs. Columbus and 8/22 @ Greensboro. Hit.400 (38-for-95) for the month of August with nine homers and 30 RBI in 25 games played. Was named SAL Player of the Week for the week of 8/27-9/3 after hitting.467 (14-for-30) with three homers and nine RBI in seven games. Went 6-for-12 with two homers and eight RBI in three SAL playoff contests vs. West Virginia, including a 3-for-5 performance with two homers and seven RBI in a Crawdads 13-7 win in Game 2 @ West Virginia on 9/7
2006 Season: Played for Low-A Hagerstown in the NY Mets minor league system. Posted a.308 average (24-for-78) during the month of June. Homered twice and drove in three runs on 6/12 vs. West Virginia. Went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles on 7/3 @ Lake County
2005 Season: Went on an eight-game hitting streak (11-for-27.407) to begin the year at Short-A Brooklyn. Had two hits and a season high four RBI vs. New Jersey on 6/29. Went hitless in 20 at-bats over five straight games from 7/6-13. Went 4-5 with a double and two runs scored @ Batavia on 7/27
2004 Season: Signed by the NY Mets as a minor league free agent on 1/6. Played for Tronconero 2 of the Venezuelan Summer League, where he stole 29 bases in 58 games
2003 Season: Missed the entire season and was released by Cleveland on 8/4
2002 Season: Spent the season with San Felipe in the Venezuelan Summer League, where he hit.375 in 43 games
2001 Season: Signed by Cleveland as a non-drafted free agent on 2/12. Made his professional debut with San Felipe in the Venezuelan Summer League
