Biography:

Curve Cuts: 3rd Professional Season. After staring at Rice for two seasons as an All-WAC member as well as an All-American in 2006. The Pirates selected Friday in the third round of the 2007 draft. Spent the last two seasons with State College (A) and Lynchburg (A)
2008 Season: Began and spent most of the season with Class A Advanced Lynchburg, hitting .287 with two homers and 29 RBIs in 85 games. ... Played seven games for the GCL Pirates in July on a rehab assignment. ... Went 3-for-4 with a double, triple and two RBIs against Wilmington on April 13. ... Was 7-for-13 with four doubles, a triple and six runs scored in a three-game home series against Winston-Salem May 5-7. ... Stole 16 bases and was caught 11 times. ... Hit .324 at home and .250 on the road.
Hit .295 (46-for-156) in 40 games for Class A Short-Season State College in his pro debut. ... First pro hit was a solo homer against Hudson Valley on July 19 in his second game. ... 2006 Season: All-America (Baseball America first team, College Baseball Foundation, Rosenblatt Report second team, Collegiate Baseball third team); All Conference USA (first team); All-Silver Glove Series; Minute Maid Park College Classic All-Tournament; Academic All-District VI; C-USA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll... Postseason honors poured in after one of the best seasons in the country... One of three Owls to start all 70 games... Led the team in batting average (.353) and sacrifice bunts (10) and was among the C-USA's best in hits (95, second), runs scored (66, second), at bats (269), RBI (57), doubles (22), total bases (150), on-base percentage (.437), slugging (.558) and stolen bases (17)... Fourth on the team in multi-hit games (25), including a career-high four hits in a game three times... In one of the four-hit games (at C-USA foe Memphis), all the hits were doubles and he ended up driving in five runs and scoring three times... Blasted two home runs in a game at Marshall and drove in six runs that day... Maintained a team-best 20-game hitting streak in April-May... Hit safely in 58 of 70 starts... Reached base with either a hit, walk or as a hit batsman in 58- consecutive games from Feb. 18 to June 10... Batted an eye-opening .467 against C-USA competition... Kept a .317 average and .402 on-base percentage in Rice's 29 games against nationallyranked opponents... Hit .455 with a triple and home run in the Silver Glove Series against crosstown rival Houston... Steady defender at shortstop (.954) with good range up the middle... 2005 Season: Western Athletic Conference All Academic... Played in 47 games with 36 starts, all at shortstop... Started on opening day as a true freshman... Appeared in 11 games as a pinch runner, the most of any player on the team... Batted .289 against WAC opponents and .291 (9-for-31) in 11 games against teams that went on to earn an NCAA regional bid... Tallied two or more hits in a game seven times, including a career-best four hits against Western Carolina... Drove in two or more runs three times.
