CURVE OVERHAUL FOOD MENU, REDUCE PRICES

New items on menu, many prices lowered for 2009

ALTOONA, Pa – To further fortify an undying commitment to their loyal fan base, the Altoona Curve are delighted to announce further price reductions for the 2009 season.  As many anticipate the start of the fast-approaching season, the team is pleased to announce an overhaul of food menu items that will come at lower prices this year.

This is the third phase of price cuts the Curve have made since the Lozinak Family has taken back the reigns of their hometown team.  In January, the team announced the reduction of single-game and season ticket prices, in February the organization also announced that groups and picnics will cost less than in the past.

The Curve will be controlling all operations of their food and beverage departments, which enables the team to provide signature, quality food items at lower prices for fans.

“Fans will notice that the food will taste better and cost less” said Curve General Manager Rob Egan.

Homemade Funnel Cakes and Cotton Candy, Fish Dogs, Meatball Hoagies, Philly Cheese Steaks, Chicken Cheese Steaks and a variety of soups are some of the new items featured on the concession menu.

Funnel Cakes will be made fresh, in person, right before fans’ eyes on the concourse.  This will add to the ambiance of a baseball game and brings an old-time, nostalgia to the ballpark.

The same can be said for the new, fresh, homemade cotton candy that fans of all ages can see whipped up right before their eyes.

“Having delicious and unique food and drink is a huge part of the ballpark experience,” added Egan.  “Fans will notice these new menu items, along with the sights and smells throughout BCB will be at a new level.”

Fish Dogs are foot long, hot dog-shaped, deep fried cod that is served on a bun.  Tartar sauce can be added for a flavor that will give fans another alternative to traditional ballpark fare, but similar to the style of food fans have come to love at a baseball game.

Meatball Sandwiches will be on the menu to give fans even more diverse food choices while Philly and Chicken Cheese steak stands will also be located on the Toyota Party Deck.

For cold nights early in the season, and for soup lovers during all times of the year, a variety of soups will be found throughout the ballpark to keep the food selection process for fans as broad and assorted as it’s ever been.

Additionally, prices have been lowered on many food items.  Fans will be paying less in 2009 for numerous items.  Here is an example of some of the items that will cost less:

Spearheading the concessions and catering department for the Curve will be Barbara Newsom and Glenn McComas

McComas brings 30 years of experience in the food industry with him to Altoona.  He will be an asset in his new role as the Assistant Manager of Concessions.  Previously, McComas has overseen the operation of chains of numerous McDonalds and Dominos restaurants.

Fans can take advantage of new, lower prices on the above items at the Curve Home Opener, which is just 28 days away, when they welcome in the Erie SeaWolves (AA – Detroit Tigers) on April 16 at 6:35 p.m.  The 2009 lid-lifter will be highlighted by an appearance by Pittsburgh Steelers’ Super Bowl XLIII Champion linebacker, LaMarr Woodley.  Fireworks will follow the evening’s festivities presented by M&T Bank.  Individual tickets are now on sale now and can be purchased over the phone at 877-99-CURVE, online at AltoonaCurve.com or in person at the Blair County Ballpark ticket windows.
